Lawn Irrigation – Backflow Testing

 In Sprinklers

Lawn Irrigation systems must have their backflow tested annually to make sure they are operating properly. Backflow is the reversal of the normal flow in a drinking water system which results in contamination of the drinking water.

Irrigation systems can potentially contaminate your drinking water if the flow is reversed by bringing in pesticides or fertilizers from your lawn, resulting in a serious health hazard.

The backflow preventer is fitted by a professional plumber when you have a sprinkler system installed. It must be removed during cold months to protect the lines from freezing and then reinstalled in the spring before starting the system back up. Laws and regulations state that the backflow device must be tested annually.  You should receive a letter from your designated water supplier with instructions on how to get the device tested.

If Paramount installed your system, we can start your system and test the backflow during the same visit! Give us a call to get a free estimate on a new Lawn Irrigation System for your property!
